奧巴馬連選演講
謝謝，非常感謝。今晚，是在一個殖民地贏得它自主權200多年之後，我們來到這裏，不斷前行，這主要是因為你們堅信這個國家能夠實現永恆的希望，實現移民想的夢想，我們是一個大家庭，我們共同以一個國家，一個民族奮鬥。
我要感謝每位參加這次選舉的人，不管你是從第一天就投票了，還是一直等待了很長的時間才投的票。當然了，我們要解決這個排隊投票的問題。不管你是自己上門投的票，還是打電話投的票，不管你是投了給我，還是投給羅姆尼，你的聲音都被大家聽到了，並且你對我們國家做出了某些改變，剛剛我跟羅姆尼通了電話，我祝賀他在這個艱難卓絕的戰役當中所取得的勝利。（對選民的尊重與感謝）

今晚，你投給的不是政治，而是我們的行動。但是因為大家，我們才能關注你們的工作，而不是我們的工作，而在未來的幾個月當中，我會期待和我們兩黨的領導人一起來共同尋求那些我們只有共同努力才能解決的矛盾的問題，比如説我們的税法，我們的移民，我們的工作，還有我們對進口石油的依賴這些問題，我都會尋求各種解決之道。但是這不意味着你們的工作就結束了，我們所有的公民，所有的同胞們，你們不是説投了票就輕鬆了你們的任務就沒有了，你們一定要問問自己，不是美國能為你們做什麼，而是我能為美國做什麼，我們要進行自我治理，自我約束，這是我們的原則，也是我們建國的理念。（總統理念）
我們這個國家是世界上最富有的國家，但是這並不是讓我們每個人更富有，雖然我們的軍隊十分強大，但是我們的個人並不強大，我們的大學、我們的文化，雖然是全球最優秀的，但是卻並不是説我們就是全球最優秀的。是因為我們是一個多民族的國家，多樣性的國家，但是在這樣多樣性的國家當中我們有共同的願景和共識，並且我們的子孫後代會給他們更多的公民和自由，我們的子女後代必將獲得更多的尊嚴，更多的愛護和尊敬。而且相信子孫後代只有他們正直，他們愛國，辛勤勞動才會使我們的美國變得更為強大。（國愛民、民愛國）
我今天晚上充滿了希望，因為我看到我們這些美國勞動人民的精神，還看到了那些商業人士你們所做的工作，提供了很多工作機會，而且我還看到那些失業的人民得到了幫助，我看到戰士們，他們再次徵兵，而且我還看到戰士們他們仍然守衞着我們的國家，因為他們也知道我們在支持着他們。我還看到新澤西紐約每個政黨的領導人，都開始拋開他們的旗艦，來探討怎麼從桑迪中重建我們的家園。我們還看到俄亥俄州一個父親説他有一個八歲的女
兒，她的肺病使他的家庭一貧如洗，他們之前並沒有得到醫療保障的保護，但是幾個月之前他開始得到了醫療保險，這對他們來講是非常好的消息。（民意的反映）

200多年前，美國第一個殖民地掌握了自己的命運，開始了這個國家的前進之旅。
美國的前進都是因為你們。因為你們不斷重申那種幫助我們在過去戰勝了戰事及經濟頹勢的精神。這種精神將我們的國家拖出絕望的深淵，將其推向希望的彼岸。我們始終相信：每一個人都可以追求自己的夢想；美國是一個大家庭；團結起來我們就能勝利，分裂只能導致我們失敗。
今夜，在這場選舉中，你們提醒我們：儘管我們的道路漫長而艱鉅，但是我們已經重塑信心，予以反擊。我們在內心中深深的知道最棒的美國將要來臨。

一個大學生競選活動組織者，話語滿是堅韌決心，他付出艱辛努力讀完大學，而現在希望每一個孩子都能享有和他一樣的機會。一名志願者，言辭中藏不住驕傲，她挨家挨户助選拉票只因哥哥終於找到工作，附近的汽車廠增加了班次給了他機會。
一名軍嫂談話中洋溢着愛國之情，她為助選打電話直到深夜，只是為了確保那些曾經為國家拋頭顱撒灑血的軍人回家之後，無需再為一份工作，一個住處，再次走上“戰場”。
這才是我們行動的理由。這才是政治的真諦。這才是大選如此重要的原因。選舉絕不渺小，它至關重要，舉足輕重。在一個擁有3億國民的國家，民主有時候會有些吵鬧、混亂和繁複。只因我們每個人都有自己的主張，都有深信的信仰。當我們經歷艱難時刻，當我們要作為一個國家做出重大決定，自然會有爭議，會有情感的表達。這不會在一夜之間改變，也不應改變。這些爭論正是我們自由的明證。我們絕不應忘記，就在此時此刻，在遙遠的國度無數人正為這“爭論”的權利捨身赴險，他們想要的正是像我們這樣投票的權利。
儘管我們有許多不同，但我們中的大多數對美國的未來卻有着共同的期望。 我們期望在這個國家，孩子們能上最好的學校，有最好的老師，我們期望這個國家能繼承她的光榮傳統，在技術和創新領域培養世界範圍的領導者。而這些將伴隨着好工作，新生意。
我們絕不希望孩子們未來生活在一個受困於債務、不平等以及氣候變暖的美國。
我們希望傳承的是一個安全而備受尊重的美國。這個國家擁有世界上有史以來最強大的軍事力量，但同樣也有信心為這個戰亂時代帶來和平，許諾為每一個
人帶去自由和尊嚴。
我們相信美國應該是一個慷慨、富有同情心而包容的國家，歡迎每一個心懷夢想的移民。不管是在我們的學校接受教育對我們的國旗宣誓效忠的移民兒女，還是夢想改變自己命運的街頭男孩，亦或是希望成為醫生、科學家、企業家、外交官或者美國總統的木匠家孩子。

美國是全球擁有最多財富的國家，但這並不是美國人民富有的真正原因。我們擁有最強大的軍隊，但這並不是我們強壯的真正原因。我們擁有最優秀的高等教育和文化成果，但這並不是吸引世界各國人民湧向美國的真正原因。美國之所以與眾不同，是因為能夠包容多元化的紐帶將我們聯繫在一起，是因為我們相信彼此擁有共同的命運，是因為我們相信，只有為他人付出，互相幫助才能實現國家的進步，才能為後代創造更美好的未來。前人曾為自由奮鬥甚至是獻出生命，而只有責任與權利的結合，只有愛、寬容、責任感及愛國之情能使我們更好地實
現、維護這份來之不易的自由。這才是美國的偉大之處。
在今晚，我的內心充滿希望，因為我見證了美國的這一種精神。我看到商人們寧可給自己減薪也絕不解僱員工，我看到工人們寧可減短工時也絕不讓同事下崗。還有那些在戰事中接受截肢後仍然堅持延長服役的士兵們，還有那些因擁有同伴的支持而義無反顧衝向黑暗與危險的海豹突擊隊戰士們，還有那些放下成見與分歧為桑迪颶風救災重建而忙碌在東海岸的領袖們——我在他們身上看到了美國的精神。
不僅如此，我還記得俄亥俄州一位為了給8歲女兒治療白血病而傾盡所有的父親，全賴醫療改革使得他能夠獲得醫療保險的援助。我曾經與這位父親交談，還有幸去看望了這位8歲的小女孩。當這位父親向人們敍述着與病魔鬥爭的故事，已為人父母的在場觀眾都濕了眼眶——因為我們都知道，他的女兒也可能是我們自己的女兒。而我確信，每位父母都真心祝福着這個小女孩能夠擁有明媚的未來，美國因此而自豪。而作為美國總統，我為這個國家自豪。

the president: vice president biden, mr. chief justice,
members of the united states congress, distinguished guests, and fellow citizens:
each time we gather to inaugurate a president we bear witness to the enduring strength of our constitution. we affirm the promise of our democracy. we recall that what binds this nation together is not the colors of our skin or the tenets of our faith or the origins of our names. what makes us exceptional -- what makes us american -- is our allegiance to an idea articulated in a declaration made more than two centuries ago:
“we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”today we continue a never-ending journey to bridge the meaning of those words with the realities of our time. for history tells us that while these truths may be self-evident, they’ve never been self-executing; that while freedom is a gift from god, it must be secured by his people here on earth. (applause.) the patriots of 1776 did not fight to replace the tyrannyof a king with the privileges of a few or the rule of a mob. they gave to us a republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed.
and for more than two hundred years, we have.
through blood drawn by lash and blood drawn by sword, we learned that no union founded on the principles of liberty and equality could survive half-slave and half-free. we made ourselves anew, and vowed to move forward together.
together, we determined that a modern economy requires railroads and highways to speed travel and commerce, schools and colleges to train our workers.
together, we discovered that a free market only thrives when there are rules to ensurecompetition and fair play.
together, we resolved that a great nation must care for the vulnerable, and protect its people from life’s worst hazards and misfortune.
through it all, we have never relinquished our skepticism of central authority, nor have we succumbed to the fiction that all society’s ills can be cured through government alone. our celebration
but we have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action. for the american people can no more meet the demands of today’s world by acting alone than american soldiers could have met the forces of fascism or communism with muskets and militias. no single person can train all the math and of initiative and enterprise, our insistence on hard work and personal responsibility, these are constants in our character.
science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future, or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores. now, more than ever, we must do these things together, as one nation and one people. (applause.)
this generation of americans has been tested by crises that steeled our resolve and proved our resilience. a decade of war is now ending. (applause.) an economic recovery has begun. (applause.) america’s possibilities are limitless, for we possess all the qualities that this world without boundaries demands: youth and drive; diversity and openness; an endless capacityfor risk and a gift for reinvention. my fellow americans, we are made for this moment, and we will seize it -- so long as we seize it together. (applause.)
for we, the people, understand that our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it. (applause.) we believe that america’s prosperitymust rest upon the broad shoulders of a rising middle class. we know that america thrives when every person can find independence and pride in their work; when the wages of honest labor liberate families from the brink of hardship. we are true to our creed when a little girl born into the bleakest poverty knows that she has the same chance to succeed as anybody else, because she is an american; she is free, and she is equal, not just in the eyes of god but also in our own. (applause.)
we understand that outworn programs are inadequate to the needs of our time. so we mustharness new ideas and technology to remake our government, revamp our tax code, reformour schools, and empower our citizens with the skills they need to work harder, learn more, reach higher. but while the means will change, our purpose endures: a nation that rewards the effort and determination of every single american. that is what this moment requires. that is what will give real meaning to our creed.
we, the people, still believe that every citizen deserves a basic measure of security anddignity. we must make the hard choices to reduce the cost of health care and the size of our deficit. but we reject the belief that america must choose between caring for the generation that built this country and investing in the generation that will build its future. (applause.) for we remember the lessons of our past, when twilight years were spent in poverty and parents of a child with a disability had nowhere to turn.
we do not believe that in this country freedom is reserved for the lucky, or happiness for the few. we recognize that no matter how responsibly we live our lives, any one of us at any time may face a job loss, or a sudden illness, or a home swept away in a terrible storm. the commitments we make to each other through medicare and medicaid and social security, these things do not sap our initiative, they strengthen us. (applause.) they do not make us a nation of takers; they free us to take the risks that make this country great. (applause.)
