這四個詞均可表示“也”，其區別如下:

1、too 和 as well 多用於口語中，語氣較輕，通常用於肯定句或疑問句，一般不用於否定句，且通常放在句末。如:

Ilike you too [as well]。 我也喜歡你。

Are they coming too [as well]？ 他們也來嗎？

too 有時也緊跟在主語後（注: as well 不這樣用），此用法較正式。如:

I, too, know where he lives. 我也知道他住在什麼地方。

注意:在 Me too, You too這類簡略答語中，通常不用 as well或also。如:

A:I’m tired. 我累了。

B:Me too. 我也是。

2、also 比 too 和 as well 正式，一般也不用於否定句，它在句中的位置通常是緊靠動詞，即放在行為動詞之前，特殊動詞之後。有時為了強調也放在句末（但不常見）。如:

He also came. / He came also. 他也來了。

She is young and beautiful，and also rich. 她年輕漂亮，而且有錢。

説明:also 有時用於句首（其後通常有逗號），相當於連詞 and。如:

Also, his mother was dead. 再説，他母親又過世了。

3、either(也)通常只用於否定句，且要放在句末。如:

注意:有時在肯定句之後跟一個否定句，可能用 too，also。如:

also用法 篇四

是較正式的用詞，多用於書面語，基本意思是“也”“還”，表示兩件事的性質相近或兩件事情發生的時間相同，也可表示剛説過的話也適用於另一個人或物。在句中起補充追加的作用。

主要用於肯定句和疑問句。在書面語中，also偶可用在no,nothing或其他帶有否定意義的詞之前，而在否定詞之後則不能用also,而要用either（但not also可用於反詰疑問句或修辭疑問句，偶爾也用於陳述句）。

多位於實義動詞之前，非實義動詞或第一個非實義動詞之後，有時可放在整個謂語動詞之前，間或用於句末。偶爾為了加強語氣， also還可放在句首。also在句中位置不同常會影響句子的意思。

（1） not only … but also 應連接兩個相對稱的並列成分。

Not only Mr Lin but also his son joined the Party two years ago. （連接兩個主語）

I not only play tennis but also practise shooting. （連接兩個謂語動詞）

They speak English not only in class but also in the dormitory. （連接兩個地點狀語）

(2)not only … but also 連接兩個分句，並且 not only 位於句首時，第一個分句中的主語和謂語要部分倒裝。例如：

Not only is this young man clever but also he is hardworking.

這個年輕人不僅聰明，而且勤奮。

(3)not only … but also 不能用在否定句中。

(4)not only … but also 連接兩個主語時，謂語動詞要和與其最近的主語保持人稱和數的一致。例如：

The area was not only hit by an unexpected heavy rain， but some bridges were also washedaway.

（7）也可用 but … too / as well 替代 not only … but also 中的 but also 。例如：

She not only sang well but danced gracefully too (or as well)

(8)not only A but also B = B as well as A， 但前者的強調重點在 B ；後者的強調重點也在 B 。（漢譯時，要先譯 as well as 後面的詞）例如：

The child is not only healthy but also lively. （= The child is lively as well as healthy.）
