secondly, led by the reforming and opening policy of china, lhasa has changed a lot. many new things have arrived up here, changing the face of the city. the old and new lie side by side in lhasa.
many new buildings, schools and roads have been built here. furthermore, the qing—zang railway leading to lhasa is being built. many shopping centers have been opened, and modern technology like telecommunications is spreading. the whole city looks prosperous, and our tibetan people take on a new look. every festival, people walk around freely on the new, wide and smooth streets, wearing the beautiful traditional costumes.
right now, i am looking forward to a festival called shodün which comes in june for eating yoghurt. at this time, all my family and i gather for a picnic together at the norbulinka, a famous garden. in the garden, we sing tibetan songs, dance “guo zhuang” on the grass; eat zanba, drink butter tea and barley beer on the beautiful carpet as well. we enjoy our life. i think that this festival exhibits the open-minded and optimistic character of the tibetan people.
finally, “i love my hometown. i love the people in my hometown.”.

it is a small village. there are about 600 people. most of them are peasants. they mainly plant wheat， corn and cotton. some of them often go fishing in the sea.
great changes have taken place in the past ten years. now the peasants here use tractors in their work. a lot of new buildings have appeared. many families own fridges and some even have air-conditioners. in the evening they watch tv as the people in cities do.

my hometown is mount lushan. have you ever been there? mount lushan is very famous for its beautiful scenery, excellent climate① and long history.
mount lushan stands on the south bank of the changjiang river and the north bank of the poyang lake. it is 1,474 metres high and has a lot of nice scenic spots②, such as the flower path(花徑), the five-old-manpeak(五老峯),the jinxiu valley(錦繡谷), the immortal's cave(仙人洞), the three-step waterfalls(三疊泉)and so on. thousands of people from other parts of china and foreign countries come here every year, especially in summer.
summer on mount lushan is very cool. the highest temperature is only 32℃. it can be called a huge natural air-conditioner③ in summer. winter here is nice, too. heavy snow falls every year. there is a popular saying:“mount lushan in summer is green like a clear fountain④, and in winter is white like white jade⑤.”
